What are NFTs? How to Make Them and List for Sale

My definition of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs): A cryptographic representation of original artwork that is listable on blockchains. Another definition: “NFTs make digital content one-of-a-kind: you will be the only person who can claim ownership of an NFT that you own. This means you will have control of the NFT, like the ability to resell or distribute it, and it will appreciate or depreciate in value just like any other asset.

How I Got Attacked by an Owl

ஃ This is not a typical How To or Productivity Hack, but follow these steps and I assure you will also be attacked by an owl. To begin, I ate too much pizza. It was a taco-inspired pizza. I felt the need, even though it was getting dark outside, to go for a jog. There’s a small pond by my house with a 1km diameter. I got 3/4 around when a barred owl attacked.

How To Write a Book in 7.6 months (part 2)

(Click for part 1) ஃ After 7.6 months, I published my first book. However, it was not the book I intended it to be. Not because I changed the book, because I abandoned it, for something shiny. Some feel like they need their workspace tidy before sitting down to write. I don’t give a damn what my space looks like. I would prefer to be in a nest of leaves and twigs.

Great Apes, Greater Guilt

This Thanksgiving holiday in the U.S. is during what appears to be a deadly second-wave of the pandemic. It has me thinking a lot about cousins. Never would I have thought that I would have been forcibly deterred from a semi-annual meeting with my cousins. Then when I think about cousins, I think about the distant ones too; how a capitalist pandemic has been causing trouble for my cousins abroad.

A Gorilla's Daily Schedule

Productivity Hacks ஃ Are you tired, unmotivated, and have back problems from bipedalism? Try this gorilla daily schedule. Take these massive actions at these times, and you’ll wonder why you haven’t lived this way forever. 6am-8am –> Wake-up 8am-10am –> Eat 10am-2pm –> Eat, Play, Relax, Sleep 2pm-5pm –> Travel 300-6,000 Feet* 5pm-6pm –> Build Nest 6pm-6am –> Sleep *Foraging along the way.

How To Write a Book in 7.6 months (part 1)

ஃ After 32 years of not writing books, one day I looked in the mirror and noticed a small patch of my beard turning grey. With my hair already thinning, and now this stain of authority dripping down my mouth, I had no more excuses. Why look authoritative without having written anything? At this point I had two choices: either shave my head and beard and get covered in tattoos, so I don’t look like an author at all—or write a damn book.

Where My Mind has Been in 2020: Books

I tell myself: “One day, I’ll indulge in some fiction books”, but never get around to it. Here’s what’s been keeping my mind occupied and putting me to sleep (a boring book, on Kindle Paperwhite, 15 minutes and it’s like Ambien every night without the mysterious vague memories). I’ll write individual posts on what I’ve learned from these books. For now, I just wanted to list them all to make myself look smart (also somewhat desperately self-helpish).

Computational Creativity (part 2)

How an AI muse helps me write ஃ For those uninitiated, robots can now write books. Not very good books. Actually, they can barely write coherent essays. If I were grading them in high school English, they’d all get D’s at best. Typically, these high school dropout robots are made using neural network transformer models. However, technology has now nearly surpassed the level of infinite monkeys on typewriters abilities.

Computational Creativity (part 1)

How AI helped me produce a book cover and start a printing business ஃ Sponsors: Printful — Print-on-Demand service I use to make my AI art available in my store on Mugs, T-shirts, stickers and more. Canva — Easy graphic design and drawing tool with templates. I originally wanted to make a book-cover generative adversarial network (CoverGAN). I Google’d “Book Cover Dataset”, and surprisingly there was one freely available on Kaggle.

Chapter I: A Greater Ape Approaches

Sample from the 1st section of Chapter 1 ஃ Homo sapiens are pretty cool, as far as animals go! Despite the mass extinctions, life itself is doing well. The blue whale is the largest animal known to exist in all of evolutionary history. The biggest animal ever is with us right now, and it’s an intelligent mammal with a large emotion-processing limbic system! That’s cool, but something new is coming.
